As you walk up the aisle, the vista of the lofty nave and the stained glass at the east end will take your breath away. Whatever the time of year, its grandeur means I can create especially unforgettable images for you, both inside and out, on your wedding day.

How your Romsey Abbey wedding unfolds in photos

Your wedding day starts with having your hair and make-up done, either at home or in a local hotel. Options in or near Romsey include the White Horse Hotel, The Cromwell Arms and the Potter’s Heron, Ampfield. I’ll join you there, taking candid shots discretely while your stylists enhance your natural beauty. This is when I also take detail shots of your shoes, jewellery, dress and wedding stationery. My second photographer, whom I recommend for Romsey Abbey weddings, can capture preparations wherever your partner and his groomsmen are getting ready, too, focusing on details and candid photos for the rest of the day.

Unlike a hotel or barn wedding, getting married in beautiful Romsey Abbey gives you the opportunity to enjoy a ride in a vintage limousine, through the streets of Romsey right up to its North Porch. I’ll be there to photograph the arrival of your arrival, your bridal party waiting excitedly at the door and then that unforgettable walk up the nave to the swelling chords of the great organ.

After you’ve greeted your groom at the head of the nave, your marriage service begins. Hymns and readings intersperse your vows, exchange of rings and first kiss. If you book the Abbey Choir, they will sing an anthem while you sign the register.

Your time in Romsey Abbey concludes with prayers and a blessing at the high altar before you both walk down the nave to a joyful organ voluntary amid the smiles of all your family and friends.

Outside the Abbey, I’ll capture family photos of you and all your wedding party, taking full advantage of the pretty Abbey gardens, before we all depart for your reception venue. Popular choices for local couples include Kimbridge Barn and the White Horse. Bigger budgets bring reception venues like Lainston House, near Winchester, or Chewton Glen, in the New Forest, into play.

Coverage by me continues at your reception venue with photographs of your arrival and welcome drinks, followed by formal family portraits.

After your wedding breakfast, I return to photograph the smiles, tears and laughter evoked by your speeches. Then I’ll whisk the two of you away for a few minutes to capture romantic couples shots of just the two of you that you’ll treasure.

After you’ve cut your cake, it’s time for your first dance. Which song means most to you, and are you perhaps even going to learn a dance routine for the occasion? I click away through these set-pieces to ensure I capture all the meaningful moments, and continue as you and your guests enjoy yourself beneath the disco lights. At a suitable moment, I say my goodbyes to you, leaving you to enjoy the last few hours of your wonderful day and the intimacy of the bridal suite.
