As a professional photographer who knows the Montagu Arms well, I’m pleased to say that you’ve made a great choice for your wedding venue. The wealth of backdrops it offers mean I can create especially beautiful images on your wedding day.

For example, the well-manicured lawn to the rear of the hotel is ideal for your family formal photographs, as well as bridal portraits. Its winding paths are ideal for intimate portraits of the two of you and, for bigger vistas, the shores of both the Beaulieu River and the mill pond are just yards away.

How your day unfolds in photos

Your wedding day starts with having your hair and make-up done in one of the luxurious bedrooms at the hotel. I’ll join you there, taking candid shots discretely while your stylists enhance your natural beauty. This is when I also take detail shots of your shoes, jewellery, dress and wedding stationery. If your partner and his friends are also getting ready at the hotel, I can pop over to capture their preparations, too.

Your ceremony takes place in the Oakwood Room, which can set up to 60 people. Its small stage in front of the brickwork fireplace, a couple of inches higher than the rest of the room, mean your guest can see you more easily as you make your vows to each other. Abundant natural light from leaded windows on the south side of the hotel fill the room with natural light, ideal for photographs. I should add that I always shoot silently at this point.

Drinks and canapés follow in the garden while either The Terrace Restaurant, the Oakwood Room or the Paris Room is prepared for your wedding breakfast, depending on the size of your party. At this point, I’ll take candid photos of you and your guests relaxing and socialising, as well as your formal group photos.

Once you’ve enjoyed the fine dining experience offered by the hotel’s catering team, I return to photograph the tears and laughter evoked by your wedding speeches. Afterwards, I’ll whisk the two of you away for a few minutes to capture romantic portraits of just the two of you that you’ll treasure.

After you’ve cut your cake, it’s time for your first dance. Which song means most to you? I click away through these set pieces to ensure I capture all the meaningful moments, and continue as you and your guests enjoy yourself beneath the disco lights. At a suitable moment, I say my goodbyes to you, leaving you to enjoy the rest of your evening and the intimacy of the bridal suite.
