Your bespoke photography proposal
Dear Sian-Marie and Ross,
Thank you very much for contacting me via Bridebook. I’m delighted to hear you love my style.
In this detailed proposal, let me set out the services that will fulfil your needs. I explain how I photograph your day unobtrusively, with examples of the artistry you can expect.
Given the number of guests you plan to welcome (130 according to Bridebook), you might want to consider a second photographer in addition to the length of coverage by me that you choose.
You might also like to look through Georgia and Matthew’s wedding, if you haven’t already done so, to appreciate what yours could look like in my style.
I hope you find it useful and I look forward to talking to you again soon.
Yours ever,
Dom
Foreword
Although price is important in the context of your budget, the key thing is that you love the photographs delivered by the person you choose. My style is luminous yet true to life. Colours and, in particular, skin tones are natural. I lighten grey skies and interiors if the day is overcast, and tone down green foliage if needed – no neon lawns!
Finding someone you can get on with is also important, as he or she will be with you throughout your day. I’m always smartly-dressed and polite to you and your guests. I try to be as discreet as I can when photographing (silent shutter during the ceremonies) and I will respond promptly to any queries you raise before and after your wedding.
Planning meeting
About a month before your wedding, let’s meet either on zoom or in person to go through the details of your day. So that I can try to use them on the day, I ask for the names of the key people in your wedding party. I also work out a timeline with you of what’s likely to be happening when. This maximises the likelihood – cooperation from your guests and the elements permitting – that I will capture the photos that you want.
Bridal preparations
Arriving a good couple of hours before your ceremony, coverage from me begins with behind-the-scenes photos of your bridal preparations. These candid photos capture all the nervous excitement – often prosecco-fuelled! – shared between you and your bridesmaids.
While your hair and make-up artists attend to your bridesmaids, I photograph details like your dress, shoes, jewellery, bouquet and wedding stationery.
When you’re ready to get into your dress, I step out to take some photos of your venue and how it’s been decorated for you – and also your groom if he’s getting ready there as well as you.
Before you walk up the aisle, I take portraits of you looking unforgettable in your amazing dress, with hair and make-up immaculate.
Your wedding ceremony and afterwards
If you’re arriving from home, I photograph you stepping out of the car and take candid shots of you and and your bridesmaids getting into position. Then it’s the moment: your walk up the aisle.
After you’ve signed the registers and walked down the aisle together, it’s time for your confetti throw. For best results, look up, smile a lot and kiss half-way through!
During the afternoon
Your photos of family and friends are really important as a family record. Time and your guests’ patience permitting, I’m happy to take as many groups as you wish, followed by some some portraits nearby of just the two of you.
Before guests take their seats, I photograph the space set up for your wedding breakfast, so you have a record of all the florals and details. To applause from guests, you make your grand entrance.
Speeches can take place before or afterwards as you prefer. In case it matters to you, tables will look more pristine in photos if the speeches take place beforehand.
Into the evening
It’s time for the two of you to enjoy some time alone with each other, as I spirit the two of you away for your romantic portraits. You’ll spend most of you time holding hands, embracing and kissing. I rarely ask you to look at the camera!
Once your evening guests have arrived, it’s time to cut your cake. Your first dance usually follows straight on – maybe you’re having a live band? – and your friends quickly join you.
The extra hours of coverage you get with The Pemberley gives you time for fun things at dusk, like a bouquet toss, off-camera flash portraits, a sparkler finale or even fireworks. But if that’s not your thing I’m happy to take more dancefloor action and candids of your guests instead.
When it’s time to leave, I’ll say my farewells and leave you to enjoy the rest of your evening.
After your wedding
You’ll receive about 20 edited sneak peeks within 48 hours to share with family and friends.
My editing process involves making an initial selection from the photos I take at your wedding. This is further whittled down during the editing process. Photos with promise go through exposure adjustments, colour corrections, distortion removal and cropping. This ensures you receive well-lit, balanced compositions with pleasing, consistent colours and flattering skin tones.
I remove dust spots and some background distractions if practical, like Fire Exit signs. When needed, I use Photoshop to remove larger distractions and ensure key people in important photos are looking the right way.
As a rule, for every hour I spend taking photos at a wedding, I will spend a further two or three hours refining them. I will never send you unedited wedding photos.
You should receive your edited photos within a month of your wedding, first in an online gallery and then as a digital download.
